CHARLES COUNTY, Md. — On Sunday, August 10, 2025, at approximately 8:40 a.m., multiple fire departments, led by the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department, responded to a reported residential fire with entrapment in the 3000 block of Declaration Court North in the Constitution Hills neighborhood of Charles County.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions, prompting an immediate upgrade to a two-alarm response.
Crews from several surrounding jurisdictions assisted in the operation.
Deputy State Fire Marshals confirmed the incident as a multi-fatal fire and have launched a full investigation.
According to preliminary reports from neighbors and officials, the victims include a woman and her children who were unable to escape the residence.
“This will be an extended investigation, and additional details will be provided as they become available,” the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office stated.
A Public Information Officer has been dispatched to the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no official victim identities have been released pending next-of-kin notification.
