Multiple People Killed and Injured in Mass Shooting at Grand Sierra Resort in Reno


 RENO, Nev. — A deadly shooting unfolded early Monday morning at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, leaving two people dead and at least three others injured, according to Northern Nevada District Health Officer Dr. Chad Kingsley.

The incident occurred just outside the casino in the resort’s valet area around 7:25 a.m., prompting a large-scale law enforcement response and the temporary lockdown of the area.

Authorities say the suspect, an adult male, was located within minutes of the initial 911 call. Reno Police Department officers engaged the individual in an exchange of gunfire outside the resort.

The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and transported to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

His identity and condition have not yet been released.

At least three people sustained injuries requiring medical transport, though several others reportedly sought medical attention on their own.

The total number of injured victims remains unconfirmed, and the severity of the injuries has not been disclosed.

According to officials, multiple emergency personnel, including REMSA paramedics, Reno Fire Department, and Grand Sierra Resort staff, assisted in providing care.

Reno Police confirmed that several law enforcement officers were involved in the response.

Some officers sustained minor injuries during the incident, but none were reportedly shot.

The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.

Sparks Police Department is taking the lead in the officer-involved shooting investigation, while Reno Police and other agencies continue to process the scene and collect evidence.

Portions of the Grand Sierra Resort property are expected to remain closed during the investigation.

Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo acknowledged the shooting in a public statement and said his office is monitoring the situation closely.
